New State Educational Requirements Discussed in Katy Texas
All community members and especially Katy ISD parents are invited on Thursday November 3, 2011 to a meeting where the new State of Texas
educational testing procedures will be discussed. The orientation
meeting will begin at 6:30 P.M. and will last till 8:30 P.M. The session
is being held at the Cinco Ranch High School Performing Arts Center, 23440 Cinco Ranch Blvd Katy Texas. The brand new Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) will replace the currently used TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge) test for grades 3 thru 8 and beginning ninth-graders. The new test will start this school year during spring 2012 and the purpose of this orientation is to make everyone aware of the change and tell what to expect from the new State Test.
A publication named “Eyes on STAAR”
will be a recurring booklet publishes through the school year. Right
now the publication is covering transition question and answers. The
“Eyes of STAAR” can be found on the Texas Education Agency web site. This periodical has mostly highlights taken from the recent House Bill 3 Transition.

Personally, I am happy we do not have to worry about this testing change as my youngest step-son is a senior this year at Seven Lakes High School. ACT and/or SAT are worries for us right now.
