Free Job Fair in Katy Texas
Free Job Fair in Katy Texas
Congressman Michael T. McCaul’s Job Fair will be held at the Leonard E. Merrell Center
on Tuesday September 13, 2011. The Fair will be open from 9:00 AM until
2:00 PM. The Merrell Center is located at 6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy, Texas 77494. The Congressman is from the Tenth Congressional District.
He has stated that putting potential workers together with employers to
be a crucial step in helping folks to find new employment. The
Congressman also has pointed out that putting people back to work is a
top priority for his congressional work.
The job fair is absolutely FREE. Organizers advise potential attendees to bring numerous good copies of their resumes. You could end up with an actual interview
right on spot at this Fair. The featured employers will be business and
service companies scattered all across the tenth District and beyond.
Small companies tend to use these job fairs as a means to hire new folks
as the company usually cannot afford to hire a placement firm.

I want to add some of my own comments and advice to potential job seekers and here are my suggestions: Be ready for any possibility and dress according to the position you are applying for or the type of work you are looking to obtain. Make sure your clothes are clean and pressed. Get a haircut if necessary and shave off facial hair that looks scraggly. Cover tattoo’s in spots that can be covered and remove all piercings (unless you are applying for a job at a tattoo store). Have a smile on
your face and be courteous to everyone. Make sure you shake hands
appropriately with anyone who you are fortunate enough to meet. Shine
your shoes as I have known senior people who would eliminate candidates
due to the candidate having shoes that were not shined. Don’t ramble
on during any conversation. Silence is sometimes an interview technique
to see if the candidate just talks to talk. Have a list of good questions to ask in case the situation arises. Have a positive upbeat attitude and DO NOT belittle any former employers.
Make sure you know your own resume and don’t lie.Do not engage in any
social media while going to the different employers. Turn off the cell
phone and concentrate on finding a job.
I am very happy to see a job fair is being held right here in Katy. There are so many folks that are either unemployed or underemployed
right now and job creation has to become a priority for this entire
nation. If you need a new job make plans to attend this job fair. One
never knows exactly how they will find their next job.
