Grand Lakes in Katy Texas Municipal Utility District (MUD) Requests Customers to Voluntarily Conserve Water
The Grand Lakes has sent out a request for all of their customers to conserve water due to the severe drought and extremely hot daily temperatures. The district is requesting folks to water their yards only from 8: 00 P.M. until 10: 00 A.M. each day and cut back watering to only two days each week. The District states that they have adequate water capacity to meet demand right now but if these conditions persist and voluntary cutbacks don’t work then required water restrictions will be imposed. The drought we are all living with each day is one of the worst in the history of the great State of Texas.
Listed below are some easy and fast tips to cut down on water consumption:

1) Limit daily showers to no more than 5 minutes per shower.
I know in our household, the young gentlemen (my step-son’s) can spend
45 minutes standing in their morning shower trying to wake up.
2) 1) Fix leaking pipes inside and outside.
3) 2) Check all commodes to make sure each is not running when it has not been flushed.
4) 3) Run clothes washer and dishwasher only when full.
5) 4) Think about replacing old shower heads with more water efficient new models.
6) 5) Don’t let the water run while brushing your teeth or while hand washing dishes.
7) 6) If
you have a sprinkler system check to make sure all heads are hitting
the grass/ flower beds with the water and not the street or sidewalks.
If all of us are not careful we may end up like San
Antonio Texas where the city has imposed very restrictive water
rationing program.
