Yesterday We Welcomed Two New Family Members in Katy, Texas but they can not replace our BFF little dog. I found Dwarf African Frogs being sold at our local card store and the bowl they come with has two frogs plus the store told me they could live 5-10 years!! I decided my step-son’s miniature fighting fish needed some company. No don’t call the guys in the white coats to come grab me as I have not lost my mind. I know calling dwarf frogs family members is a real stretch and a fighting fish wanting company???
November 2010 we lost our beloved dog to cancer ( no bueno) and most of our family is still grieving his passing. Our miniature schnauzer was part of our family. You and your families out there can possibly relate as you may have a pet who you all feel is part of your families.
Our dog succumbed to liver cancer and a 3 times larger than normal spleen. His last day with us was one of the hardest days of my life. His bowl’s are still on the floor in our kitchen as no one can bear the pain of trying to remove one last reminder of our little buddy. We plan to get another dog when it appears that everyone has healed enough so we can indeed love another dog for him or her self.My step-son came home for the summer with a new pet being the above mentioned fighting fish. That fish watches me every morning when I come into the kitchen to make coffee. It is not my imagination gone wild. My father-in-law feeds Allen ( fish’s name) and he immediately starts swimming all over small tank as soon as my father-in-law comes near his home. I have been watching Allen very closely and came to the conclusion he is lonely and needed company.
I saw the Dwarf frogs a few days ago and my step-son agreed that Allen could use some pals. I put the frogs tank next to Allen and they immediately starting watching one another with Allen probably thinking there could be my lunch and the frogs thinking who is that crazy fish who looks hungry all the time?? This situation will have to due until we all can face replacing our dog. As with many things in life one never knows how empty they will feel about some person or pet or family member until they are gone forever..
