Home Robbery in Grand Lakes Katy Texas
Home Robbery in Grand Lakes Katy Texas occurred on Friday June 24, 2011 during the evening. We heard about this incident last night from other friends of ours and all of us know, including the robbery victims, each other very well. We have not yet spoken to the family who was robbed but it appears that the robbers came in the early evening say 9 PM and broke a window in the rear of the home. They must have pulled their car up close to the garage door to avoid being seen from the steet.  No  alarm was set and no one was home which is a good thing. The bad guys stole items that can easily be converted into cash and they did not tackle taking a television that was mounted. Of course I am sure they made a total mess of the home.

I personally have had my home broken into when I was a child and as a young adult while I was living in the mean parts of a major US city. It is absolutely horrible and it leaves a person feel violated. I know after one robbery I had to sleep on the couch of a friend of mine for about a month as the bold Robbers told me they would come back for the rest of my stuff later. Back then all I had was early junk! This group also had a party in my bedroom and used the bed. Strange robbers but then again what is a normal robber like? My friend who I stayed with, of course, had a 38 special hidden under his pillow and had the attitude towards the crooks of come on over and lets party with him holding his gun!

If these crooks hit in Grand Lakes they can hit anywhere in the neighborhoods surrounding Katy such as Seven Meadows, all of Cinco Ranch, Silver Ranch, etc . I want to make all folks aware so we can be on alert.

Here are my safety suggestions:

* Lock all doors and windows including your cars and garages. Don’t leave the back door     unlocked while you go out the front door.
* Set home alarms and leave lights on in rear areas.
* Be totally cognizant of your surroundings and note anything that is out of place. Look for people cars, trucks that look like they probably should not be where they are..
* Don’t open the door for strangers.
* Paste your vacation pictures on Facebook or other social media avenues after you get home. Never put on your wall you are on vacation.
* Have the Fort Bend County or Harris County Sheriff’s department phone number handy in case it is needed.
* Have timers turn on light while you are on vacation or out for the evening. Leave several light on while out in the evening including the driveway light.
* Talk to your neighbors and let at least one neighbor know when you will be gone for any extended period of time.
* If away for any period of time pay someone to remove newspapers and / or mail and have them keep it until you return.

Does anyone want to add items to my quick and dirty list? Be safe and careful out there as it is a dangerous world. Holiday weekend is fast approaching.
