NEW HEB GROCERY STORE TO OPEN IN KATY AUGUST 2010
HEB grocery store will open a new store in the under construction commercial development named "Katy Main Street" sometime it is rumored during August 2010. I expect a grand opening and festivities similar to those when the HEB at Fry opened a few years ago. The new store is located at I-10 and Pin Oak. ( Exit Pin Oak : get to the left and exit feeder: turn left on Pin Oak and the store is on the other side of the freeway on the right hand side). HEB has added a much needed gas station to the store.
HEB will obviously be the anchor store for the Katy Main Street development which eventually someday will include retail shops, restaurants, banks, office space and a hotel.
This is the first major food store to open in the Katy area since Wal-Mart opened at Katy Mills Mall area a few years ago.
The new Katy HEB will not be as big as the existing HEB I previously mentioned but it will be about 85,000 sq. ft. The store will a pharmacy, health foods section, large produce section and numerous cheese from all over the world.
I will keep people posted as to when the store might open. I personally like the idea and location of the new store even though I live minutes away from the existing HEB. I am on the road enough that I will stop at the new store as I am sure it will not be the hassle and traffic nightmare that the current store unfortunately has become.
