Katy Managed Lanes Make Life a Little Easier for Commuters

The Katy Manged Lanes opened to toll paying commuters on April 18th...and the plan seems to be a success for those looking to save a little time...and pay a little extra for the privilege.
The managed lanes include two lanes in each direction that replace the single, reversible HOV lane on I-10. The lanes are available to single drivers who pay a toll for the potential travel-time savings. If you carpool the lanes are still free based on your meeting the criteria (having one other person in the car with you).
The idea behind the managed lanes is to have under used capacity on the HOV lanes used to reduce traffic in the I-10 regular traffic lanes. Allowing those willing to pay to fill excess capacity in the managed lanes should make the commute a little better for all drivers. As always, you EZ Tag will be your ticket into the managed lanes.
