Katy ISD FFA Hosts Annual Livestock Show and Rodeo

Katy ISD FFA Hosts Annual Livestock Show and Rodeo

Katy ISD Future Farmers of America (FFA) are hosting the 71 st  annual livestock show, rodeo and parade starting on Thursday February 23, 2014 and running through Saturday February 22, 2014. Pro Rodeo events will be seen each evening. The Rodeo will be held at the Fairgrounds at interstate I-10 and FM 1463 right next to the Merrell Center in Katy TX. Here is an opportunity to see Pro Rodeo up close and very personal. The Rodeo begins each evening at 7:00 P.M.

Katy ISD each year offers one of the only remaining high school rodeos in whole United States. All student participants work very hard, possess lots of talent and have very high standards to attain just so that they can be part of this yearly Rodeo event. Think about this.. How many events of any nature last 71 years?

Livestock judging events will all be held in the L.D. Robinson Pavilion. The livestock will arrive on Wednesday February 19 by no later than 5 P.M. and Special Rodeo arrival starting at 10 AM for steers, goats, hogs and lambs.  The Livestock to be shown includes hogs, goats, lambs, broilers and steers. The Livestock auction is scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 P.M. and will be held in the Pavilion previously mentioned. A buyer luncheon will be held at 11 AM. The barn closes each evening at 8 PM.

Ticket prices are extremely cheap in my opinion for this kind of family entertainment as Children ages 3-10 are $5.00 per night at the gate. Children ages 2 and under are FREE. Adults ( ages 11 and older) are $10.00 per night at the gate. Tickets are being sold at Enterprise bank on Highway 90, Tradition Bank on Pin Oak and All Katy FFA Booster Clubs.

Be forewarned limited tickets will be available each evening at the gate. Buy your tickets now and I am publishing this blog early so folks can do just that.

KFLSRA is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization which benefits KISD FFA Chapters.

Youth events include Jr. Barrel racing; Jr. Roping; Sr. High School calf scramble; Mutton Button; and Stickhorse Races. Pro Rodeo events include bull riding, barrel racing, calf roping; team roping; and bronc riding.

This is truly great event to attend and support all these local kids who are taking part in the various activities and/or selling their livestock at the various auctions. I expect a huge crowd to attend each evening and the auctions raise some serious cash money.

The pro Rodeo is sanctioned by the CPRA and is filled with numerous Rodeo competition events. Thursday night is free entry night for all KISD students.Katy ISD FFA Hosts Annual Livestock Show and Rodeo
