Fort Bend County Master Gardeners Holds Irrigation Systems Discussion

Katy Texas and surrounding areas are comprised of 3 separate counties with these being Fort Bend County, Harris County and on the far west side Waller County. I have mentioned this several times as many times residents and nonresidents get confused by this situation. I personally live in Fort Bend County but not that far away from Harris County and most folks are indifferent to looking at a county distinction when buying a home.  I try to write blogs about things happening in both Fort bend and Harris counties and every once in a great awhile I find something to write about that occurs in Waller County.

The Fort Bend Master Gardeners which is sponsored by the Texas Agrilife Extension Service ( Texas A&M) is hosting a meeting on Thursday July 18, 2013 titled “ Irrigation Systems - Taming the Beast”. The meeting is being held at the Bud O’Shields Community Center . the center is located fairly close to Katy at 1330 Band Road Rosenberg Texas 77471 and phone is 281-341-7068. This seminar ( my word) will start at 7 PM and will last till at least 8:30 PM.

I thought this seminar is something the local community needs to know about as several Katy neighborhoods have gone under voluntary water restrictions due to the current drought conditions. We all need to learn more about conserving water and this session I am sure will tell everyone how to setup a proper irrigation system which will not waste water.

The presentation will be made by Boone Hollady who is a Fort bend County Extension Agent. The main focus will be instructing folks on irrigation efficiencies and finding easy ways to make a home’s landscape beautiful without wasting precious water.

If I had time I know I personally would like to attend. Real estate business has to come first and right now I am just too busy.
