Grand Lakes HOA and Residents Recycle Program Announcement
Grand Lakes HOA and Residents Recycle Program Announcement
Grand Lakes is a Master Planned Community located in an unincorporated area of Katy Texas on both the West and East side of Highway 99 (Grand Parkway) and Fry Road. I previously have written a more detailed blog about the
neighborhood and you can find this blog by going to here http://activerain.com/blogsview/3355777/grand-lakes-katy-tx-focus-neighborhood-for-june-28-2012. Grand Lakes similar to the other mater planned communities in the area has a very active and strong HOA and you find information about the HOA by clicking here http://www.grandlakeslife.com/.
All residents will be issued one per household 48 gallon recycle cart during the week of February 1, 2013. The old Red recycle bins will
be collected on Thursday January 31, 2013. Anyone who prefers to use the old Red bins needs to contact Best Trash at 281-313-2378 or via website by accessing www.best-trash.com. The change in recycle program will cost residents nothing. The recycle carts should not be used for normal trash but only recycle items. All capos, food products and liquids should be removed prior to placing these things into the recycle cart.

BestTrash will replace any cart that becomes damaged due to normal wear andtear but carts which are stolen or abused will require replacement at the cost of $65 each.
Holidays for 2013 for trash pickup are as follows: New Year's Day, Memorial Day,July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If a recycle day falls on a holiday the recyclables will be picked up the next week.
Here is a list of acceptable recycle items:
PAPER: DRY & CLEAN, LOOSE
Newspaper & inserts
Magazines & catalogs
Junk mail, envelopes, file folders
Office white, colored and computer paper
Corrugated cardboard boxes
Cereal & gift boxes, etc
Paper bags & phone books
Wrapping paper
Milk cartons
Juice cartons
Wax coated boxes
CONTAINERS: EMPTY, CLEAN & LOOSE
Glass - clear & colored
Aluminum cans
Aluminum foil
Aluminum foil plates/ serving containers
Plastic bottles, jars, tubs and buckets
(such as soda, water, milk, juice, liquor, shampoo,
detergent, condiments, salad dressing, yogurt,
margarine, pet food, etc)
Plastic grocery bags
Styrofoam (containers & packaging)
Metal food cans (tin & steel)
Metal food can lids
Metal pots and pans
This appears to be a major improvement in the recycle program which we have had in the past. I have heard from several folks that they have serious doubts the items residents put into the red bins ever actually made it into the recycle program. I personally am very happy as we are using several bins ( some we purchased) which do not have tops and we have to
leave this mess outside our back door.
