New Fire Station Planned for Katy Texas
New Fire Station Planned for Katy Texas
We all have painfully seen how important having trained firefighters and fire equipment is during the last rash of wildfires that burned thousands of acres of land in Texas alone without even looking at other states. The Willowfork Fire Department is planning to build and open a second fire station. The new station will be located near the intersection of Cinco Ranch Blvd and Katy-Gaston Road. This fire department and Fort Bend County Emergency Services District no. 2 acquired the land where the 12,600 square foot fire station costing an estimated $3.0 Million will
be built. Obviously the purpose of building a new station is to improve
service and try to keep up with the huge growth of population in the
covered areas.

The service area to be covered by the new station will include the southern sections of Cinco Ranch, Seven Meadows, Pine Mill Ranch and Silver Ranch subdivisions.
The Willowfork
station was opened about nine years ago when there were only about 4,000
homes in the area and very little commercial development. Today there
are over 12,000 homes in this area and a large amount of commercial
development.
It is estimated the new station will be start being built during January 2012 and the estimated completion date is the late fall of 2012.
The new station will have three bays for fire trucks and will have the
capacity for seven firefighters. Officials state that initially the
station will have three firefighters.

The new station is
very good news to me as some clients are very concerned about fire
safety and how the area with its rapid growth will be able to provide
good service to the thousands of homes already built and those that will
be built in the next few years. I applaud all of these efforts and I as I have said on several blogs firefighters anywhere are truly unsung heroes for the masses of ordinary citizens.
